Keep Track Of Your Utility Bills
Utility and energy bills can serve as a good indicator of how efficiently your HVAC system is performing. A spike in your bill’s price could tell you that your HVAC system is broken, faulty, outdated, or in need of repairs.
Check Air Filters Monthly
Over time, air filters collect pet dander, dust, dirt, and hair circulating through your home. By replacing your home’s air filters each month, you can reduce airborne pollutants and allergens, improve your household’s indoor air quality (IAQ), and increase the amount of air circulating through your filter. Opt for a filter with a MERV rating between 7 and 13 to improve your HVAC’s airflow and filtration.
Schedule Regular Inspections & Repairs
The average residential HVAC system can last anywhere from 15 to 25 years. However, frequent HVAC repairs and inspections from a heating and air conditioning system professional can greatly extend the longevity of your unit.
At LIBERTYAIR Air Conditioning & Heating, we only install units made by top-name manufacturers. However, we can still provide air conditioning services for any AC unit in North Central Florida. No matter your AC unit, you can rely on our contractors to diagnose, maintain, install, and repair all HVAC appliances. Call us today!
Regularly Clean Outdoor Units
Fallen leaves, twigs, and lawn clippings can clog your outdoor HVAC system. While this might not seem like an issue, this organic debris can cause your AC unit to strain itself – raising your electric bill and increasing your AC’s chances of breaking down. We recommend deep-cleaning your outdoor unit annually to avoid this and keep your HVAC system running as smoothly as possible. Spring is typically the best time to perform this yard chore, as it lets you focus on your HVAC unit’s health before the summer heat arrives.
When you’re ready to clean, ensure the AC is completely turned off. You can shut off your AC unit by using your thermostat and unplugging it. Practicing this extra precaution can prevent accidental injury or electrocution during your cleaning process.
Next, unscrew the top of the air conditioner. Inside, you will find the coils, which may be surrounded by leaves, grass, dirt, and dust. Use gloves to safely remove this debris from the interior of your unit. You can use a vacuum cleaner to remove the remaining blockage for anything you cannot easily grab and remove.
If you want a thorough clean, you can use a foam coil cleaner and a garden hose to break down tough grime, or you can call our HVAC technicians to clean your outdoor unit for you fully.
